Our Terms and conditions

By Instructing us to supply and/or fit flooring via telephone, fax, email, website forms or in person, you the customer are entering a contract with Ideal Flooring (Sussex) Ltd

You understand that an estimate given by Ideal Flooring (Sussex) Ltd is not a quote, and as such if issues/delays are caused via parties outside Ideal Flooring (Sussex) Ltd then further costs maybe required then what has been mentioned.

Our estimates are fixed for 30 days from the day of the estimate, after this point the company reserves the right to make alterations to the estimate.

Estimates are subject to a site visit, to check sizes and carry out moisture readings.

Unless specified all our estimates are based on a level sub-floor and any additional materials required are subject to additional costs.

Unless specified in our estimates or invoices, finishing components such as Scotia, threshold strips, pipe covers and DPM (Damp proof Membranes) are at an extra cost.

Installation of your new flooring has been planned using the most economical layout, subject to pattern matching.

The company shall have the right to increase the price to take into account any increase in cost arising after the date the order is received as a result of any alterations in the customers requirements, additional works required as a consequence of the customers instructions or lack of instructions, any interruptions, delays, overtime work carried out as a consequence of causes over which the company has no control.

Our estimates are based on area’s being clear of furniture, unless stated otherwise. We are happy to help move furniture providing this has been arranged beforehand, a labour charge maybe made, and we insist on all furniture being emptied and all breakables removed beforehand. We accept no responsibility for any damage to the property or the furniture whilst being moved or not being moved.

Payment terms

We do not order any materials until we have received the full payment of materials, this does not include the fitting costs,

Once the payment has been cleared through our bank, we will then order the materials.

Any fitting dates that have been discussed are provisionally booked until we have received payment and subject to stock with our manufacturers.

Fitting costs are paid direct to the fitting team on the day of completion, please do look around and make sure you are happy with the work carried out, as if a fitter is required to return then charges will apply.

If you wish to pay for a fitter via Ideal Flooring (Sussex) Ltd the fitting total will be subjected to  VAT at 20%.

All goods remain the property of Ideal Flooring (Sussex) Ltd until the full balance has been paid, and we reserve the right to remove these from the property if payment is not made.

The rates of payment that are agreed by the company and customer are final, no reduction or retention is to be made for any reason by the customer.

All payments are to be made in Pounds Stirling.

The client may cancel a scheduled installation 48 hours before the appointment without incurring any cancellation costs.

If a scheduled installation is cancelled within 48 hours of the appointment a minimum charge of £65 inc Vat will be charged.

The company reserves the right to cancel any installation if the condition of the property is classed as a hazard to health and safety of our installer

We reserved the right to postpone or cancel an installation appointment(s) if we feel the conditions of the home/site are not met to our standards, our standards being that all tradesmen have carried out their work, no tradesmen are working whilst we are there, and there is a  minimum temperature of 18 degrees Celsius.

The company is confident that the customer will be happy with the results of the installation, but if this is not the case, please follow the complaints procedure. Any complaints will be fully investigated and procedures will be reviewed in order to stop any reoccurrence of a problem. All complaints are to be made in writing within 48 hours of the completion of the installation. The company reserves the right to not entertain complaints made after  this. In the case of a complaint the customer must give access to the original installer to attempt to fix the area the customer is dissatisfied with, this will not be at no extra cost. It is the customers responsibility to inspect the installation and make a complaint within 48 hours.

We hold no responsibility for any paint work being damaged via masking tape or sanding the edges of our smoothing substrates.

The customer is responsible for the removal of any fragile or breakable items including pieces of furniture prior to the arrival of the installer.

Ideal Flooring (Sussex) Ltd reserves the right to refuse to move any pieces of furniture that would be deemed a risk to the installer.

In order to reduce the risk of injury or damage, all pieces of furniture should be emptied of their contents prior to the arrival of the installer. If this is not done we may have to cancel the installation and rebook at the company’s earliest convenience.

All company operatives will always treat your property with the greatest respect but accidents do happen. Due to this we ask for all irreplaceable items be it monetary or sentimental value to be completely removed from any area that a installer will have to be in.

The customer is expected to provide electricity to supply power tools, water and heating if needed, failure to do so will result in rearranging the installation at the company’s earliest convenience and a cancellation fee being made.

We require the presence of the customer or his/her representative in the beginning and at the end of the installation, so that inspections can be carried out and any incorrections are needed, they should be made on the same day.

The customer is expected to provide means of access into the customers property.

Any times of appointments given are subject to our sub employed fitters convenience so if a time of between 9-10 is made, the fitter may arrive earlier or later then planned, as they are sub employed we have no control over this.

Our latex screeds provide a smooth layer that will follow the contours of the subfloor it is not a levelling compound. Our latex will follow the contour of the floor between 3-4mm.

Trimming of doors and plinths are not included and will not be carried out by Ideal Flooring (Sussex) Ltd.

All wires, cables etc must be hidden and installed correctly, they can not be running on top of the subfloor.

Site conditions

The relative humidity reading in the building should be between 35% - 65%.

The moisture content of the base should be below 75% relative humidity.

Sub floor levels should not deviate more then 3mm over a 3 lineal metre straight edge.

If the base is not within the above tolerances, it is the builders responsibility to achieve these tolerances.

In the premises which are furnished all carpeting and furniture to be removed by the customer prior to the commencement of the flooring unless otherwise stated.

If underfloor heating is present; systems must be commissioned and check by the customer prior to any floorcovering installation.  All hot water systems must comply with the current British Standard EN 1264 parts 1-5. The system manufacturers recommendations must also be followed, with regard to commissioning of both hot water and electrically wired systems. The underfloor heating system must have its own heating circuit and has its own separate thermostat for heat regulation Etc, this ensures the flow temperature is not too high. The heating system must provide an even temperature distribution and the floor temperature should not exceed 27°C at any time. The UFH must NOT be switched on for at least 48 hours before AND after installation. The temperature should be raised slow at no more than 1°C per Day.  Rugs should not be placed on the floor as these can prevent heat transfer, cause excessive floor temperatures and possibly lead to the floor de-laminating.
